"Opponents confront us continually, but actually there is no opponent there. Enter deeply into an attack and neutralize it as you draw that misdirected force into your own sphere."

Carol Taylor sent me a link to Civil War photos. I think she knows I am a history buff. Click the picture to go to a series of the most incredible pictures taken during and after the Civil War. The more I know about that war the more certain I am that it was the training or testing grounds for all the slaughter and hate of the First and Second World Wars. Thank God we developed a weapon so fierce and destructive that human egos were forced to step back from Hell. I am firmly convinced that the atomic weapons has purged the human race of huge widespread wars. Even the politicians in Washington D.C. can understand everybody loses when the A-bombs fly. The last picture in the series, shown here as a thumbnail, reminded me instantly of something from a Nazi Death Camp. He was a Union Soldier captured and sent to Andersonville prisoner of war camp in Georgia. If Americans could allow this kind of starvation and maltreatment of other Americans I see little hope for the human race to benefit from war. Therefore, thank God for atom bombs!

The website with these pictures also has a lot of information and links about the American Civil War. Sometimes I think that by the time I am 90 we will have discovered pictures and documents for every soldier who served in that war. For more information click HERE.

I finally got around to cleaning the filter of the Koi pond. I am rapidly approaching a point where I have to upsize the pond and filtration equipment of get rid of two of the Koi. The 3 Koi and 2 Goldfish create such a volume of fish poop that the pump begins to choke down after just 2 days. I really should be cleaning it weekly but I am lazy. If I lived in the hill country where I had access to limestone slabs I could build a 3 foot retaining wall around the present pond area but with at least 5 times the surface area of the present pond and drop in a pool liner so that the present pond would be a 5 foot deep part of the pond. With that layout I could build a bog filter and have a self cleaning system. But I don’t have $2400 for the wall stones, liner, bigger filter, bigger pumps, and bog plants. So dream deferred.

Senior grandson and I are going to “As You Like It” tomorrow night. I would like to take all the grandkids to see the plays but I am not sure they are all ready just yet.

I got a very official looking letter today advising me that I had been selected to represent Republican voters in Texas’ 18 th Congressional District. I was thrilled until I opened the letter and found a survey. The Republicans call it a census. I think I am one of 20 people that vote in the Republican primary in the 18 th district. Sheila Jackson Lee, yes the rude abusive, and effective black woman represents the 18 th district. I have found myself agreeing with her more often that the Republicans during the last 2 election cycles. I hate her brand of liberal politics but on some items she has a good point. I will probably complete the survey but with severe points of difference. Some of the choices for some of the questions are not adequate for my concurrence. . For example #4 states “Do you think the first and most urgent priority of our government must be to create jobs, end economic uncertainty and make America more competitive? YES, NO, NO OPINION.
MY REPLY—NO! A THOUSAND TIMES NO! THE PROBLEM WITH JOBS AND ECONOMICS AND LACK OF COMPETITIVENESS WAS CAUSED BY YOU HAMMERHEADS MONKEYING WITH STUFF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND. I THINK THE WHOLE HERD SHOULD BE LOCKED IN A FEDERAL WAREHOUSE.

#7 Do you favor a major overhaul of the current Federal Tax Code that would replace today’s burdensome tax system with one that is simpler and fairer? YES, NO, NO OPINION
MY REPLY—YES BUT ONLY AFTER ALL THE CURRENT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ARE SAFELY LOCKED ON THE PLANET MARS. THEY SCREWED UP WHAT WE HAVE AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT WITHOUT SELLING MORE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TO LARGE CORPORATIONS.

I will have responses to more of the questions on this Republican Census Survey in the next few days.
