A friend sent me an email that encapsulates a widely held contempt for our president as well as a willingness to make the truth imply something else. The email is shown in quotes.
“General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis., to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year. but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the united States.
So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar). Immelt is supposed to help create jobs. I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.
If this doesn't show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don't know what does. Please pass this information to others and think about it before you buy a GE product.”
The email contains truth as far as it goes. According to Snopes the manufacturing facility in Waukesha is not being moved, yet. What is being moved is a corporate headquarters. You know, a building full of suits and paper shufflers whose only real function is to screw around with the working people. I can understand GE’s need to do business in China. I wish they didn’t have to but reality is reality.
Snopes then reports that ”GE has long placed high hopes on China, with CEO Jeffrey Immelt in 2008 calling it the company's "second home market." In January, the company finalized a deal with state-owned Aviation Industry Corp. of China to inject much of GE's civilian avionics business into a 50-50 joint venture based in China.
General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt is the chair of the 26-member Jobs and Competitiveness Council appointed by President Barack Obama in January 2011.”I disagree with the email in that I don’t think this truly shows a lack of leadership by President Obama. I think it shows a complete and total detachment from the American people that is shared by almost all the elected politicians and appointed bureaucrats in Washington DC. The American people do not want “czars” for American interests who are not 100% dedicated to America. Immelt shows he is more concerned with GE than with America.
President Obama, if he wants to be reelected has to grow a pair and declare open war with the opposition. The opposition has shown they are not going to give in so he needs to realize he is not going to get what he wants and throw a challenge. Harry Truman did not win in 1948 by being an impartial statesman. He attacked the “do nothing” congress and got what he wanted from the American people. I shall not vote for him but I have yet to decide who will get my vote. I wish there was a woman running with the strength of Hillary Clinton, or Sarah Palin, or Condoleezza Rice or Eleanor Roosevelt.
I got my TV back this afternoon. I was SO HAPPY. And then I plugged it in. Ten minutes after powering up the picture when totally dark. Of course, by then the repair shop was closed. So I sat here for 90 minutes stewing with a blank picture. About half way into “Two Broke Girls” the picture came back, flared and went dark. It did that twice. Finally during the intro for “2 and a half men” the picture came back, a little dark but acceptable. The picture has been good for over two hours now. I have a 9 day guarantee so I hope it either fails completely or works well. I missed TV much more than I expected.

FROSTY MANDARIN DESSERT
2 - 3oz pkgs of orange gelatin
2 C boiling water
1 can mandarin oranges
1 pint orange sherbet
Dissolve gelatin in boiling water.
Drain oranges, reserve juice and add water to make 1 cup. Add to gelatin.
Chill until slightly thickened. Fold in sherbet and oranges. Pour into 1 1/2 quart mold or individual serving dishes. Chill until firm.
Yield: 8 servings
